Or you practice self-care your own version of self-care for a few days then you don’t have time to meditate or something gets in the way, preventing you from taking care of yourself. Maybe you don’t feel like you are doing it ‘right’? Either way you end up back at square one. Feeling as miserable and deflated as ever. You felt sure you were going to nail it this time..

What is Emotional Freedom Technique?
EFT uses the 'energy highway' of the human body, known as meridians. They flow beneath the surface in corresponding pairs. Each meridian has many acupuncture points along its path. We use some of those points to physically tap and release blocked energy within the body.
Meridians can become blocked by emotions such as anger, sadness, fear, stress, limiting beliefs, or depression, as well as an organ deficiency or malfunction. Imagine swallowing something that goes down the wrong way, it gets stuck. That awful feeling when it’s blocking your airway, fortunately one good pat and back and it’s dislodged! Ah the relief. Think of unblocking your meridian pathways in this way!

What Happens During our Sessions?
You and I will talk about your specific problem or issue - fear, worry, bad memories, an unresolved argument, addiction, or something else that's become challenging to you. It may be a belief that's holding you back from progressing in your career, relationships or feeling like you don't deserve the finer things in life. The issue can be historical or something that happened that day.
Once we have established how you feel. We write something called a ‘set up statement’ that describes the emotions you are experiencing. I will ask you to rate your concerns out of 10, 10 is the worst possible feeling ever and 1 is the best you can feel about the situation.
While you focus there, I will show you how and where to tap on your body. Imagine acupuncture but without the needles, you use fingertips instead- hence the name tapping! Tapping is painless and is done with fingertips, above the waist and through clothing. While tapping, you, (or me, if you prefer) will verbalise some of the words you used to describe your emotions. When we have completed a round of tapping, (don’t worry we have a thorough practice first) I ask you to rate how you are feeling out of 10. Has the feeling decreased, increased, or is it about the same? Using this feedback, we tweak the next round of tapping, and so it continues. We might do 3 or 4 rounds of tapping per session. With each round of tapping you are releasing your emotions, it’s quite normal to cry, or have new- found emotions or memories surface.
Week One In our first session we will work together to clarify precisely what your concerns are. This is often the most difficult part of the process; verbalising problems makes them feel very real. Burying your head in the sand will not make your issues go away, nor will glossing over the major issue by telling me a half-truth, or a sanitised version of events. There has to be 100% honesty.
I will ask lots and lots of questions - some of which you may have never even considered, or want to address. I’m not here to pass judgment on what you say or the life path you choose to follow. I am here to empower you to live your life on your terms.
I will give you a written exercise to complete prior to our next session.
Week Two There will be reflection on the first week and we’ll go through your written exercise and take it from there. The topic we tap on will very much depend on you, I am organic in my approach to you and your wellbeing. I tailor the therapy to the person, not the person to the therapy.
Weeks Three and Four will naturally flow from the first two weeks, with more exercises to complete in your personal time. The exercises aren’t particularly long but they are of value to your long-term wellness- you must complete them for us to proceed.

What results can the right person expect to see, and how quickly?
Unlike traditional counselling or other therapies, EFT isn’t designed to be a long-term practitioner/client-based arrangement that can last literally, years. That’s why it is an intensive 4 week course, your time is precious and I want you to feel as good as you can, as quickly, and effectively as you can. The assumption is that you will be empowered and equipped with the necessary EFT and self-care tools to successfully manage, and more importantly, maintain a good level of well-being after our work together.
Why Work with Me?
We freely accept the benefits of working with a personal trainer for physical wellbeing, they push you to do far more than you would alone. Working with a qualified EFT/CBT practitioner is no different except we focus on mental well-being. People often stop EFT when they practice alone because it starts to feel uncomfy. Bringing up emotionally challenging thoughts alone can cause you to feel much worse, not better. Yet these are the points where you are SO near to breakthrough and recovery. So, yes, despite the discomfort you may experience, it’s important to go there with a trained professional who can guide you through the process, and safely out of the other side.
What Else do I Need to Know?
During this one-to-one therapy programme, we work together via Zoom/Teams/Skype. Each session lasting between 60-75 minutes- I will never rush you off when we are in the middle of a breakthrough moment!
There are written exercises, to be completed in between our weekly calls. You will have WhatsApp access to me Monday-Friday for the duration of the course, when I’ll be available to answer any questions that you might have. We can also schedule a short (20 minute) call or face-time weekly, between sessions. - So that’s over 7 hours of 1-2-1 time.
